Motor Housing

Requirements:

• Simple Assembly
• Inexpensive Components
• Isolate Motor and Gears to minimize Noise

Solution:

Motor is secured to sheetmetal cradle, which is in turn secured to a sheetmetal sled using e-a-r grommets. These grommets block/reduce vibration from the motor to minimize noise.

Motor/sled slides into channels that were designed into an extruded aluminum housing. The only point of contact between the motor/sled and housing are these channels.

Specialized Knowledge

Design required knowledge of Product Design for Manufacturing – especially Plastic Injection Molded, Extruded Aluminum & Sheetmetal parts as well as a hands-on approach to keep assembly simple.
